Top Social Media Takeaways for Virtual Assistants from the Blogger Xchange Xpo

Hey Y’all! I'm so excited about this post because I’m sharing all about the things I learned at an event I recently attended here in Nashville that I really think are going to benefit my fellow Virtual Assistants. What was this event?

The Blogger Xchange Xpo

I started blogging a few months ago and really want my blog to be a place where other Virtual Assistants and small business owners can come to be inspired, encouraged and empowered to create a business and life you love. So kind of on a whim, I bought a ticket to this event to go and learn more about blogging and how to get my blogs in front of more VAs! I didn’t really know what I was getting into by going {I didn’t know anyone else going} but I figured I’d check it out.

Well y’all, I was blown away by how amazing the event was!

The entire Xpo - from start to finish - was incredible and worth every single penny. {It wasn’t an expensive event at all - around $75 - and next year if they make the ticket five times that price I would still pay to go - that’s how high caliber this event was!} I met so many amazing bloggers here in Nashville and left so encouraged and inspired to grow my own blog.

There was a really fun kick-off party on Friday night at the George Jones Bar in downtown Nashville, but Saturday was the main event for the Xpo and I loved it! They had the most amazing keynote speaker, Dr. Lauren Elise of TheSocialMediaDoctor.com. To say I loved her talk is an understatement. She was so funny and so insightful and I took an entire page of notes!

They also had workshops on Advanced Social Media, Branding, Finance & Legal, and Youtube & Instagram marketing led by really amazing teachers/bloggers!

I have so many notes from the Xpo, and today I want to share with you some of my takeaways and learnings from the event that I think are useful for other Virtual Assistants to know {even if you don’t blog!}

Top Social Media Takeaways from the Blogger Xchange Xpo:

  • Put hashtags in the 1st comment of your Instagram post instead of in the caption so it doesn’t distract from your content.

  • Your social media posts should do one or all of the following:

  • Entertain

  • Inform

  • Inspire

  • Educate

  • When it comes to your social media, your personality matters most - if people don’t care about WHO you are, they aren’t going to care about WHAT you are sharing.

  • It’s important to be consistent - on Instagram, you should be posting 5 times a week at a minimum.

  • You should be sending out 5 tweets per day

  • LinkTree is great for your bio on Instagram

  • Make sure your captions match your photos - Don’t just put “fluff” or emojis - you want to be relatable so make your captions juicy!

  • Pinterest is still a really untapped resource and so pinterest ads are fairly cheap.

  • You can’t get the swipe up feature until you have around 10k followers

Resources Shared at Blogger Xchange Xpo:

This is just the tip of the iceberg of things I learned at the Xpo. I am already implementing lots of the above and can’t wait to see how my blog improves and grows in the coming months.

If you blog at all, I definitely think you should follow along with the Blogger Xchange community here: https://www.facebook.com/BloggerXchange/. They have some other local events coming up and will be doing their Xpo again next year!

In the meantime, I’m curious… What are some of the best events you’ve been to for your Virtual Assistance business? I’d love to know… Share with me over on Facebook!
